While scouting out post-meeting food I was fortunate enough to stumble upon an un-popped bag of microwavable pop secret popcorn.
This may not seem like a big deal to some. But to one who savors and reviews free food, a complete, un-picked at, unprepared bag of popcorn is pay dirt.
I mean, the bag was un-popped. It wasn’t like typical free popcorn that has been sitting in a bowl getting stale for an unknown number of hours. I was able to smell the processed butter as the disgustingly stained office microwave charged every steamy kernel. I was able to get more and more excited as each pop rung through the small communal kitchen. Then, after 3.5 minutes of anticipation, a hot bag full of nucular morsels emerged, just as the pre-set microwave had intended. And best of all, they were all mine.
The aroma filled the building causing everyone to wonder “who’s making popcorn”. And as I ate the bag by the handful back at my desk, passers by couldn’t help but take in the savory aroma and assume I had brought it from home. If only they knew that it could have been theirs, had they just been to the kitchen before me.
Now, this may sound like a 5 out of 5 plastic fork review up until this point. And it would be, if only the microwave’s popcorn pre-set was better calibrated. See, there were about 20 kernels that were left un-popped in the bag. Obviously I couldn’t throw them away being free and edible so I crunched my way through them. It’s because of those jawbreaking kernals I have deducted .5 plastic forks…
Ultimately scoring this microwavable pop secret popcorn a 4.5 out of 5 plastic forks.
